Offenheim: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Several hiking trails lead through Offenheim’s wine-growing and arable landscapes to neighboring municipalities: R10, R16, and R64. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Offenheim can then continue searching for accommodation.

Nature

At the Wiesbach, Offenheim forms part of the Rheinhessische Schweiz landscape conservation and recreational area, which is characterized here by meadows, forests, streams, and vineyards. The village is located on the Vorholz state forest, described as the largest contiguous woodland in Rheinhessen. The Kappelberg lies within the Offenheim district, in the Vorholz forest. At 358 meters, it is the highest mountain in the Rheinhessen hills. The Vorholz forest is used by nature lovers, day trippers, joggers, hikers, and mountain bikers. Two seating areas stand on the wooded Kappelberg.

Trails

Trail R10 passes a private, fenced enclosure for fallow deer and red deer with a small hut. An arm bath in Untergasse can be used for a traditional Kneipp treatment or for refreshment. Also in Untergasse, the foot bath is continuously supplied with cool fresh water from an adjacent spring.

Culture

The former forester’s lodge stands on the site described as Offenheim’s oldest developed property. In Schäfergasse, a late Baroque corner house preserves visible decorative half-timbering on the upper floor.

Enjoyment

Along the row of pear trees, there are seats for picnics and watching the sunset. Guided tours explain the poems and stories associated with the objects and pear trees there. Handmade objects and sculptures line a field path.

Local

By prior appointment, Hirschhof organizes tractor rides for visitor groups in Offenheim and the Vorholz forest, as well as wine tastings and guided tours. Game specialties are offered.
