History

The Groupe scolaire Karl Marx was built by the architect André Lurçat between 1932 and 1933. The Hôtel de la Capitainerie des Chasses was built shortly after 1762 for Jacques Alexandre Gauthier de Vinfrais and was partially listed as a historic monument in 1996. The Église Saint-Cyr-Sainte-Julitte was built in the 12th century and completely renovated in 1535. Its features include 18th-century wood paneling and a 19th-century organ.

The bell tower of the Église Saint-Cyr-Sainte-Julitte was often called the Tour de Villejuif because of its somewhat fortified appearance. The Mire de Cassini served as a landmark for tracing the meridian and is also known as the Pyramide de Villejuif. It was built by Jacques Cassini in the 18th century.

The surroundings of Villejuif include the Laboratoire Reptiles et Amphibiens museum, the Institut du monde arabe museum, the Musée de Luxembourg and the Musée de Cluny. The Île Saint-Louis and the Île de la Cité are also nearby as islands. The Île de la Cité as a park is also located near Villejuif. Parc Montsouris is in the immediate vicinity of Villejuif.
