Villeneuve-le-Roi brings together distinctive sites relating to religious architecture, nature, agriculture and culture. Those who choose Villeneuve-le-Roi for their stay may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture and History
The Église du Haut Pays, also known as the Église Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul, preserves a heavily remodelled three-aisled nave from the 12th-century reconstruction and has a 13th-century bell tower. The choir and bell tower of the Église Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul have been listed as historic monuments since 28 January 1947.
In Vieux Villeneuve is the Fontaine-lavoir de Villeneuve-le-Roi. It was restored in the 19th century and probably dates from the 17th century. The Menhir de la Pierre-Fitte dates from the Neolithic period. The Jardin du Bois-Soupault includes pools, water features and mosaics inspired by Gaudí's works.
Nature
The Espace Naturel de la Pierre-Fitte has been classified as an Espace Naturel Sensible since 2013. It is a remarkable reservoir of biodiversity and extends over 8.5 hectares. Meetings, walks and workshops are occasionally offered there.
Culture and Activities
The Espace culturel has a tiered event hall with 500 seats and a maximum capacity of 650 spectators. It also regularly hosts exhibitions of painting, photography and sculpture.
The Ferme du Parc des Meuniers is a three-hectare educational farm that is open to the public and freely accessible to the public. For children, it offers fun and educational workshops on breadmaking, gardening, wool, basketry and animal care.
