The Saint-Louis Saint-Nicolas Cathedral in Choisy-le-Roi was commissioned by Louis XV in 1748; he entrusted the design to Ange-Jacques Gabriel. The history of Rouget de Lisle is also closely linked to the town: the composer of La Marseillaise lived in Choisy-le-Roi for ten years and died there on 26 June 1836 at the age of 76.
