The Chapelle Notre Dame du Pont was founded as an oratory in 1432 and expanded three times. The chapel also houses a statue of the Virgin Mary, which was brought there in 1809 by a hermit from Belgium, from the province of Brabant in Montaigu.

Culture and History

The Château de Sirod has a square floor plan and is flanked by towers. The main building and the well in the courtyard are protected parts of the historic monument. Only exterior viewings are possible at the Château de Sirod.

The Église Saint-Étienne in Sirod dates back to the 12th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 1946. Tours of the Église Saint-Étienne are organised in July and August, as well as year-round for groups, by prior reservation.

Nature

A geological feature in Sirod is the Rocher des Commères. According to the legend of the Rocher des Commères, the rock originally consisted of three rock blocks; two of them were destroyed over time by erosion.

On the Ain, Sirod has a private first-category fishing area. It stretches from the source to the Carnot reservoir near Syam; this section of the watercourse is located on private land. The Sirod fishing area also includes a no-kill section on the Ain.
