Château-Chalon is situated on a rocky promontory at the edge of a cliff and is described as a viewpoint village offering a panorama over the surrounding landscape. It includes four viewpoints overlooking the surrounding vineyards: the Belvédère de Ménétru, the Belvédère de la Roche, the Belvédère de la Rochette and the Belvédère Saint-Jean.

Culture
The Église Saint-Pierre was classified as a Monument historique by decree of 21 December 1972. It houses the treasury of the former abbey, which no longer exists today, including paintings, relics and precious objects. The Église Saint-Pierre in Château-Chalon is also protected religious heritage.
The Maison de la Haute Seille presents an immersive film about the history of Vin Jaune. It also offers guided tours of the village and theatrical walks through Château-Chalon.
Wine
The Château-Chalon AOC, a Grand Cru of the Vins Jaunes, is made from Savagnin on the village slopes across approximately 50 hectares. After fermentation, Château-Chalon is aged for at least 6 years and 3 months beneath a layer of yeast known as “sous voile” in oak barrels, without fortification or racking.
Nature
The Balade à Château-Chalon is an easy 4.2 km PR® interpretive trail that takes approximately 1.5 hours. It passes through the Sous-Roche and Puits-Saint-Pierre wine-growing terroirs at the mouth of the reculée de Baume-les-Messieurs.
