Trails and Nature
The site can be reached via the La Borne au Lion forest road. The road begins opposite the church and is 4 km from La Pesse; from the last parking area, it is 150 m to the site.
The Tour de Malatrait circular trail passes through the forests and pastures of the Hautes-Combes, past scattered farmsteads and through hilly landscapes. The summit of Crêt de Chalam is at an altitude of 1,545 m and offers a 360-degree view over the Jura mountain range and the Alps.
Lac de l’Embouteilleux is an artificial mountain lake, or water reservoir, supplying the municipality of La Pesse with drinking water. Swimming and fishing are not permitted in the protected Lac de l’Embouteilleux.
The marked route from La Pesse to Crêt de Chalam and back takes approximately 2 hours, is 5 km long and has an elevation gain of 259 m. It is initially signposted with the GRP marking and then with yellow markings. The Grande Traversée du Jura (GTJ) also crosses the municipality of La Pesse.

The interactive route “Le Secret de La Pesse” leads through the village and its surroundings using hidden letters and puzzles, conveying aspects of La Pesse’s history. “Jur’Aventures: Le Secret de La Pesse” is an interactive discovery route with augmented reality, where participants solve puzzles and find hidden letters in the village and its surroundings.
At the Musée rural de l’ancienne Fruitière de La Pesse, museum tours and tastings of regional products can be arranged by prior contact. For groups, a minimum of 10 people is required for tours and 15 for tastings.
Geographical Location
The TGV station in Bellegarde-sur-Valserine can be reached by car from La Pesse in approximately 40 minutes.
