Choisey: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Château de Parthey and its park were listed as historic monuments by decree of 7 November 2008, with the exception of the farm and the buildings south of the main building of the outbuildings.

Culture and history

The tour covering the history of Choisey is open to everyone; explanatory panels are provided along the route. The Château de Menthon was built by the Richardot family from 1701 and reached its present state of completion in 1787.

At the Église Saint-Antoine, the flat, straight chancel wall may date from the 12th century; it features narrow Romanesque openings. The large altarpiece of the Église Saint-Antoine was restored in 2002 and now once again shines in its original colors and gilding. The church also houses a recently restored stone statue of Saint Roch from the late 15th century.

The Château de Parthey is believed to have been built around 1285. In 1479, it was partially burned down during the war over the annexation of the county under Louis XI. The Hoguette de Choisey, dating from 5400–5300 BC, was discovered by archaeologists near the canal at Les Champins in 2009.

The Abbaye de Notre-Dame d'Ounans is a historic site in the immediate vicinity of Choisey. The Rue du Rempart des Ursulines Defensive Wall is a historic site in the wider region surrounding Choisey.
