Blois-Sur-Seille: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A notable feature of Blois-sur-Seille is the Milchteleferique, which is considered unique in France. It was used to transport milk to the village cheese dairy, where the milk was processed into Comté.

Those choosing Blois-sur-Seille as a travel destination may be planning to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture and History

A year, 1670, inscribed on a holy water font appears to correspond to the construction of the Saint-Gilles Church. The side aisles of the Saint-Gilles Church were built in 1808.

The cemetery cross by the Saint-Gilles Church bears the year 1765.

Hiking

The Sentier des pierres sèches comprises two relatively easy circular routes: a 2.5-kilometre route with 8 huts and a 5.15-kilometre route with 12 huts. Along the trail are shepherds' huts, known as cabordes, as well as dry-stone walls referred to as “murgers”.

The municipal hiking page lists a section of the GR 59 between Château-Chalon and La Marre. It also lists two PDIPR routes: via Côte du Chaumois Martin and via Vieux Mont.

The La Reculée de Blois-sur-Seille circular hike is 6 kilometres long, takes around 2.5 hours, and is rated “difficult”. It is designated as a circular route focusing on geology and nature and bears the “Boucles Échappée Jurassienne” label. The circular route starts in the village square next to the lower station of the former milk cableway.

Nature and Landscape

Water has fractured the limestone of the local plateau, creating deep lapiaz grooves.

The Reculées de la haute Seille Natura 2000 site covers 1,420 hectares and includes Blois-sur-Seille among its associated municipalities. The site's habitats include forests, rocky habitats, running waters, tufa springs, natural and semi-natural grassland formations, and caves.

There are numerous springs at the foot of the cliffs of the reculée; some of them made it possible to establish fountains in the village of Blois-sur-Seille. Rivulets, streams, and brooks from the surrounding area feed the Seille River.

The Natura 2000 site lists the peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) and the Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) as species occurring in the area.
