Lac de Lamoura lies at an altitude of 1,155 m and is the highest of the lakes in the Jura. The Sentier du Lac de Lamoura trail runs around the lake.

The beach at Lac de Lamoura is supervised in July and August. On 27 July 2026, swimming and water sports activities in Lac de Lamoura had been prohibited since 18 July 2026 after anatoxins were detected in the bathing area.

Nature

The Sentier du Lac de Lamoura crosses wetlands and a peat bog on a wooden boardwalk without damaging these sensitive habitats. Six information panels focus on the geology of the valley, the former use of hydropower and the aquatic life of the lake.

The main part of the Forêt du Massacre lies north of Pièce d’Aval. A prefectural decree protecting biotopes regulates travel there on foot, on skis and by car.
