Culture and history
The Église Saint-Pierre de Jouhe has a nave dating from 1749, while its choir dates from the 16th century. Inside are wooden sculptures, paintings, a reliquary and a copy, dated to around 1150, of a statue of the Virgin and Child.
Next to Jouhe village square stands the tower of the old castle; it dates from the 14th century. A papal bull from 1089 mentions the church of Mont-Roland, which at that time was entrusted to the Benedictines of the Jouhe priory.
Notre-Dame de Mont-Roland is a pilgrimage sanctuary. It comprises a church and a votive-offering chapel. The sanctuary lies on a route of the Way of St. James. The enthroned statue of the Virgin Mary at Mont-Roland is described as the first known depiction of the Virgin Mary in the Jura. The inhabitants of Jouhe brought the enthroned statue of the Virgin Mary to their village; it is still kept in the Église Saint-Pierre. The Église Saint-Pierre de Jouhe can be visited on simple request.

Trails
Hiking trails lead from Jouhe to the Mont-Roland sanctuary. The “Le Mont Roland” hiking trail leads from Sampans to the Mont-Roland sanctuary in Jouhe; it is 7.32 km long and rated easy. Several hiking trails begin at the Mont-Roland sanctuary. The “Les Monts Dolois” hiking trail begins and ends in Jouhe and is 9 km long.

Landscape
The Notre-Dame de Mont-Roland sanctuary offers views of the Forêt de Chaux and the Saône plain. The Résurgence de la Foulotière is a well-hidden spring at the foot of the Mont-Roland sanctuary.
The old millstone at the Foulotière spring remains on site and serves as a picnic table. At the spring, basins and foundations indicate a former mill that has fallen into disrepair.
Pilgrimage and traditions
A very old regional pilgrimage takes place at Mont-Roland in August. Since 1991, a pilgrimage of Travellers to the Virgin has been held at the Mont-Roland sanctuary in April. In May, a pilgrimage of Portuguese people in France is held at the Mont-Roland sanctuary in honour of Our Lady of Fátima.
