Lac Des Rouges Truites: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Nature
The peat bog of Lac des Rouges Truites is part of the Ramsar site “tourbières et lacs de la montagne jurassienne” and has been designated an Espace naturel sensible by the Jura département. It features exceptional biological diversity, with almost 900 species recorded to date.
The ZNIEFF “LAC DES ROUGES TRUITES” is a type 1 ecological zone covering 79 hectares in Lac-des-Rouges-Truites and is subject to a prefectural decree protecting the biotope. Within this zone, the small lake is surrounded by an alkaline fen with typical plants such as bog bilberry and cranberry; a floating peat mat with pools transitions into a raised bog. The outflow of Lac des Rouges Truites provides a suitable habitat for the white-clawed crayfish; the species is protected by a prefectural decree.
Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment can include Lac Des Rouges Truites, with its lakeside peat bog and the Sentier de découverte, in their destination search.
Culture
The Église paroissiale de la Nativité de Notre-Dame in Les Thévenins dates mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries. Its floor plan is in the shape of a Latin cross, and it also features a ribbed vault, divided sound openings in the bell tower, and pointed-arch windows in the apse.
Cheese dairies, or fruitières, have been documented in Lac-des-Rouges-Truites since 1794. In 1859, there were four fruitières: le Maréchet, les Martins, les Thévenins and le Voisinal.
Trails and Discoveries
The Sentier de découverte du lac des Rouges Truites “Chacun son rythme” begins at the car park of the Domaine du Bugnon. It follows the “Sentier du tour du lac” markers and is inaccessible in snow. The trail includes interpretation materials, observation facilities and an accessible platform near the peat bog.
The Circuit de découverte du lac des Rouges Truites is a 3.9 km, one-hour, very easy circular route with 54 m of ascent, 54 m of descent and a maximum elevation of 935 m; it is designated as an interpretive walking trail. The route leads to the hamlet of Les Thévenins, where a former cheese dairy founded in 1905 stands along the trail.
Vers les Moulins - 67V offers shaded and sunny trails suitable for an introduction to mountain biking. The route is officially included in the Geotrek network of the Parc naturel régional du Haut-Jura and highlights a peat bog, a former mill, the Voie du tram and a cheese dairy as facets of the heritage of Grandvaux.
