Nature
The Le Suran ZNIEFF area covers Graye-et-Charnay and has an area of 716.31 hectares. The Le Suran natural inventory area is included in the Petite Montagne du Jura Natura 2000 network. Five beaver families have settled and reproduce in this natural inventory area. The meadows of Le Suran are divided by hedgerows and interspersed with small copses; riverside vegetation grows along the river. The Suran valley near Graye-et-Charnay is visited by European beavers.
The Falaise du Fays et Grotte de Gigny natural inventory area includes Graye-et-Charnay. The Falaise du Fays et Grotte de Gigny zone is included in the Petite Montagne du Jura Natura 2000 network; the cave also belongs to the regional network of Schreibers' bent-wing bat roosts in Franche-Comté. The Falaise du Fays et Grotte de Gigny consists of a mosaic of open and wooded ecosystems. Peregrine falcons nest in the rock crevices of the Falaise du Fays.

ViaCluny is a 550-kilometre network of marked hiking trails between Switzerland and France. The ViaCluny hiking trail follows the Suran to Graye-et-Charnay and then continues to Gigny. Graye-et-Charnay is one of the places mentioned in connection with ViaCluny.
Culture and history
At the Carrière des Carrats in Graye-et-Charnay, extraction was carried out using open-pit or stepped quarrying methods in the 19th and 20th centuries. A historic winch for extracting and moving stone blocks is still preserved at the Carrière des Carrats.
The Église Saint-Saturnin stands on a natural rocky outcrop. The century-old linden tree at the Église Saint-Saturnin offers a panorama over the Suran valley.
In 1993, the Moulin des Prés still had a water turbine, one of the two metal overshot water wheels and three pairs of millstones. The water wheel was approximately 3 m in diameter and 1 m wide. The part of the Moulin des Prés building located east of the river was rebuilt by Joseph Convert in 1850 and was described in 1891 as a grain mill and hemp mill.
