Lignac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lignac lies in the foothills of the Massif Central. In the Boischaut sud natural region, the bocage landscape remains strongly pronounced. The rural settlement structure comprises densely built hamlets and several detached farmhouses.

Culture and History

Château-Guillaume has been classified as a Monument historique since 1862. The keep of Château-Guillaume dates from the 12th century. The village of Château Guillaume developed around the château and the church. A former mule bridge is visible at the northern entrance to the village of Château Guillaume.

The church, too, preserves tangible traces of its history: an old bell above the entrance to the church in Château Guillaume bears a Gothic inscription with the year 1526. After falling into disrepair, the church in Château Guillaume was restored from 1866 to 1868 using the proceeds of a fundraising campaign.

Paths and Discoveries

The Sentier de découverte au fil de Château Guillaume is 1.7 km long and equipped with four illustrated information panels. It begins on the bridge opposite the château. Another hike, “Rendez-vous chez Aliénor d'Aquitaine n°33”, begins in Lignac at the village hall.

Water and Nature

The Étang de la Rochechevreux is a 12-hectare pond stocked with carp, roach, tench and zander. Fishing at the Étang de la Rochechevreux is permitted from sunrise to sunset.
