The Musée des Thoniers presents the maritime history of the men and women who made Étel one of the most important French fishing ports between 1850 and 1970.

Culture and history

On display are ship and landscape models, reconstructions of rigging, and historical collections. The Musée des Thoniers also offers temporary exhibitions, videos, workshops, and games for the whole family.

Around Étel, the Dolmen de Crucuno, the Alignements du Vieux-Moulin, the Dolmens de Rondossec, and the Dolmen de Kergavat are ancient sites.

Nature and coast

Étel is one of the seven municipalities of the Grand Site de France Dunes Sauvages de Gâvres à Quiberon.

Close to Étel are Plage du Magouëro, a beach, and Île de Saint-Cado, an island. The area around Étel also includes Plage de Kerhillio, a beach, and Île de Roëlan, an island.

Trails and water

The Étel section of the GR® 34, the Sentier des Douaniers, runs from Pont du Sac'h to the chemin de la Barre in Erdeven. The GR® 34 is a 2,000 km coastal hiking trail that can be walked year-round.

Near Plage du Pradic, the Cercle nautique offers opportunities for diving, sailing, and kayaking. Plage du Pradic is suitable for shore foraging, but less suitable for swimming due to strong currents.

Connections

The “Treh Simon” ferry connects the quays of Étel with the Port du Magouër in Plouhinec and carries bicycles.
