Pleugriffet is characterised by a dense network of waterways and gently rolling terrain. Today, the landscape appears very open and only lightly wooded; agriculture continues to shape its appearance.
Landscape and Waterways
Family picnics and fishing are possible at Étang de Coët-Maguet. In Pleugriffet, wooden walkways and wooden bridges lead towards a remarkable wetland. However, the walkways and bridges are currently impassable due to storm damage.
Paths and Stops
The Cadoret hiking stop has a service area for motorhomes, toilets, access to drinking water and picnic tables. The Circuit des 2 fontaines de Pleugriffet is a very easy, 3-kilometre-long hiking trail with a stated duration of one hour; the circular route is closed.
History and Culture
The present-day building of the Église Saint-Pierre was constructed between 1954 and 1956. Its stained-glass windows were created by the Rennes workshop E. Rault. The Église Saint-Pierre is considered an interesting example of 1950s architecture in this area.
The Cadoret lock site in Pleugriffet is part of Lock No. 43 on the Nantes–Brest Canal. The Chapelle Sainte-Marguerite was moved from the hamlet of La Boulaie to its present location in the 18th century. The Chapelle Saint-Vincent-Ferrier was also built in the 18th century and features a remarkable altarpiece sacristy.
