Péaule: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Péaule combines bocage countryside with proximity to the Vilaine, traditional villages and well-preserved historic sites. As a result, routes through the surrounding countryside and historic buildings stand side by side in the same local landscape.

Routes and countryside

For walks, Péaule has five signposted circular trails maintained by the Association Péaulaise Nature et Patrimoine (APNP). Detailed maps of the walking routes are available as brochures from the town hall. Part of the Transmorbihannaise can also be used for walks in Péaule.

The GR 39 from La Baule to Saint-Malo runs through Péaule along the banks of the Vilaine. In addition, the 22 km-long Circuit des Deux Vallées passes through the town as part of the departmental walking trails plan.

There are also several circular mountain-bike routes on hilly terrain with varying levels of difficulty. These include routes 4, 5, 6 and 7 in the La Roche-Bernard mountain-bike area. The official Circuit 6 of this VTT-FFC area starts at the chapel in the hamlet of Saint-André in Péaule, is 23 km long and includes 540 metres of ascent. Along Circuit 6 on the banks of the Vilaine are river landscapes, hills, meadows, forests and rocks.

Culture and history

The present-day Church of Saint Gaudence has a 16th-century choir end and was rebuilt in the 19th century. The Ancien doyenné in Péaule was apparently built around the middle of the 15th century and altered in the 16th century; it is partly protected as a historic monument.

The protected elements of the Ancien doyenné include the fireplace bearing the inscription dated 1534, which was protected by a decree of 25 September 1928, as well as the façades and roofs of all the buildings, including the northern gate of the enclosure and the dovecote, which were protected by a decree of 27 September 1965.

The Chapelle du Temple de Fescal is a rectangular Gothic building. Its window features radiating tracery, trefoils and quatrefoils. During a walk, you can also view the late-15th-century Gothic buildings of the Cour de Couëguël from the outside.
