Locoal-Mendon: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Église Saint-Goal stands on the edge of a natural terrace above the Anse de Locoal. The inlet opens onto the Rivière d'Étel. The church stands at the presumed site of Saint Goal's hermitage; the location of his grave is marked by an engraved stone in front of the choir.

Landscape and Trails

On the trails around Locoal-Mendon, hikers can observe herons, great egrets and, occasionally, otters. The Lapaul-Cosquer circular trail follows the stream of the Étang du Crannic and leads to the Chapelle Saint-Paul de Lapaul, a 17th-century chapel that was completely converted into an oratory in the 20th century.

The Chemin de Cadoudal–Pointe de la Forest circular trail runs between land and sea along the shore of the Ria d'Étel. Along the way, visitors can discover the Cache de Cadoudal, a hidden place associated with the Chouan general Cadoudal.

History and Culture

The Chapelle Sainte-Marguerite was built in the 17th century, probably in 1646, as indicated by the date shown on the west door. The Chapelle Saint-Jean was built in the second half of the 16th century on the shore of the eponymous pond on the Île de Locoal.

The portal and the choir termination of the Église Saint-Pierre have been protected as a Monument historique by decree of 24 April 1925. The choir termination dates from the late 15th century and has a granite vault.

The covered megalithic avenue of Mané er Loc'h, also known as Mané Bras, is classified as a Monument historique. The Locqueltas dolmen is classified as a Monument historique. The Ty Er Chir–Kernours circular trail offers a possible there-and-back route to the Dolmen de Mané Bihan, a bent tomb from the Neolithic period.

Local Character

The Marianimaux & Cie educational farm in Locoal-Mendon welcomes private visitors by prior reservation. Oyster tastings are offered by local oyster farmers in Locoal-Mendon.
