Saint-Armel: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The salt marshes of Saint-Armel, including the Lasné saltworks, cover 10 hectares and comprise 24 salt ponds used to produce salt and fleur de sel. The saltworks are classified as a sensitive natural area (ENS) and are managed by the Morbihan Department. From April to the end of August, La Paludière du Golfe offers educational guided tours there for individual visitors: a tour for adults about the work of a salt worker, a creative and playful family tour, a tasting tour, and a tour about the legends surrounding the saltworks.

Nature and Landscape

The Chemin du Pusmen was created on municipal land in 2022 to protect the marsh's breeding birds. Plage de Saint-Armel is a small beach at the end of the Gulf of Morbihan. It is surrounded by salt marshes and lies in the centre of an ornithological protection area. A former railway line has been converted into a cycle path and leads to Saint-Colombier, where various facilities make birdwatching possible.

Culture

The new Saint-Armel parish church was built between 1855 and 1859 after the former Gothic brotherhood chapel had been destroyed. Its floor plan is in the shape of a Latin cross; granite and rubble stone were used for the main structure.

Things to Do

From Saint-Armel, you can reach Île Tascon at low tide. From the Passage de Saint-Armel, Arbenn Kayak et Paddle offers sea kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals, as well as excursions and courses. Arbenn Kayak et Paddle's location in Saint-Armel can be reached by bicycle from Vannes.
