Le Palais: Holiday apartments and houses

The Citadelle Vauban rises above the port of Le Palais. The Citadelle du Palais is partly listed as a historic monument and partly classified as a historic monument; some parts are protected. The Citadelle Vauban is currently closed due to construction work.

Culture

The historical tour of Palais takes visitors through Le Palais, running from Montagne to the Avant-Port and passing through Place de la République, the church and the town hall. Seventeen information panels explain the history of important places in the town.

Trails

From the centre of Le Palais, visitors can reach La Belle Fontaine via the GR®340 along a route of approximately 3.5 km each way. La Belle Fontaine was built in 1696 to collect spring water and supply the king’s ships with drinking water, and is open to the public.

The Le Palais–Port Fouquet circular hike is 10.3 km long, takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, and is easy.

Nature

Plage de Ramonette is a sandy beach facing east in Le Palais.

Local character

The Marché local de Le Palais sells local and regional produce, including seafood, cured meats, galettes and crêpes, fruit, vegetables and cheese.
