Plouay: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Domaine de Manehouarn, which is now open to the public, offers visitors a place for walks, mountain bike trails and a children’s play area. The Circuit de Manehouarn au Scorff is 12.4 kilometres long and leads through the Domaine de Manehouarn, along a former railway line, through forests and along sunken lanes into the deeply incised Pontkalleg Valley, through which the wild and turbulent River Scorff flows. The Balade confort de Manehouarn starts at the Vélodrome car park. The Balade Culture et patrimoine de Manehouarn differs from this: it is a 2.5-kilometre guided circular walk through the estate.

Routes

The Circuit de Kerscoulig is a 9.4-kilometre mountain bike trail with 150 metres of elevation gain and is part of the Lorient Quimperlé Bretagne Sud mountain biking area, which comprises 40 trails and has been awarded the FFC-VTT label. There is also the Boucle Vélo Plouay Du côté du Crano, covering 17.1 kilometres, and the Boucle Vélo Plouay Du bourg au Scorff, covering 17.5 kilometres. Chapels

The Chapelle Notre Dame des Fleurs is attributed to the Flamboyant Gothic style and is richly decorated with exterior sculptures. By prefectural decree of 17 May 2019, it was listed as a historic monument.

The Chapelle de Locmaria is listed in the supplementary register of historic monuments. It has a stained-glass window from the 16th century and a richly carved roof structure.

The Chapelle Saint-Anne du Scorff probably dates from the late 16th or early 17th century, overlooks the Scorff Valley and has a calvary and a spring.

History

The oldest house in the centre of Plouay dates from 1594 and formerly served as the prison of this lordship. The Manoir de Kermorgant is a well-preserved 16th-century manor house with a spiral staircase.

At the medieval site of Ty-Henry, parts of the ditches and defensive earthworks have been preserved. The Château de Kerdreho was built in the 17th century as a pleasure château; an orangery and a park are still present. The Church of Saint-Ouen in Plouay was built in the 15th century.

Events

The Fêtes de Plouay take place every year in August and combine well-known cycling races with various festive events.
