Elven reveals itself through individual places where history, nature and paths along the water showcase different facets of the area.

Culture and history

Today’s Chapelle Saint-Clément was built in the 15th century. It preserves wall paintings from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. The wall paintings and the cross of the Chapelle Saint-Clément are listed in the register of historic monuments.

The Largoët fortress comprises the monumental ruins of a 14th-century keep beside a pond. Its octagonal keep is an example of medieval military architecture.

Nature and landscape

Elven is one of the 33 municipalities of the Parc naturel régional du Golfe du Morbihan. In the heart of Elven, the Vallée du Kerbiler encompasses two hectares of green space, including an open-air amphitheatre. The Bois du Hayo is a 30-hectare woodland area. The “Les Tours d’Elven et Bois de l’Argoët” area is a type I ZNIEFF in Elven.

The arboretum in the Bois du Hayo introduces visitors to 28 tree species.

Paths along the water

The “Rando des bois et cours d’eau – Elven” hiking route runs along the Arz and small watercourses. The “Rando de Kerbiler – Elven” route crosses the Kerbiler stream.

Discoveries in the forest

In the Bois de la Noé du Taureau, walkers can complete a document during a circular walk using information panels in the forest. At the end of the walk, visitors can seek out the “Maître du bois” in his hut.
