Le Moustoir: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Le Moustoir combines sailors’ and day laborers’ houses with farmsteads dating from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. 18 houses have been recorded in Le Moustoir.

Culture and history

The Chapelle Saint-Martin is at the center. It was probably built in the 16th century; building components from the 15th century were reused for its west and south portals. Several Iron Age stelae surround the chapel.

The Chapelle Saint-Martin association maintains religious activities throughout the year. These include Easter and Christmas celebrations, masses and a rosary in May.

Around Le Moustoir are the ancient site Allée couverte de Grah Niol, the ancient site Dolmen de Lannek-er-Men, the ancient site Les Pierres Plates and the historic site Cairn de Gavrinis. The nearby area also includes Plage de Brouhel beach and Île Irus island. Other beaches in the area include plage de la Villeneuve and Plage de Kerver.

Nature and trails

The center of Le Moustoir is a shared zone with a speed limit of 20 km/h and priority for pedestrians. The eastern section of Rue Saint-Martin has a cycle path and footpath, while the western section is designed as a Chaucidou.

The Circuit des deux moulins circular trail runs between houses through Le Moustoir, past a washhouse and a wayside cross, continues toward Mané Habus and along the front of the Moulin à marée de Pomper tidal mill. After the tidal mill, the Circuit des deux moulins follows the coastal path and the GR34, passes oyster-farming facilities and reaches Le Moustoir again.
