Culture and History

The Chapelle Saint-Quirin, also known as the Chapelle de Saint-Guérin, dates back to the 17th century. It is a Breton sanctuary and a stop for pilgrims on their way to Sainte-Anne-d’Auray. The chapel contains a classical altarpiece considered the most beautiful in Morbihan.

The Chapelle Saint-Jacques was built in 1464 and is listed as a historic monument. On 24 July 2018, Brec’h was declared a parish of Saint James through this chapel. At the Champ des Martyrs, the site is classified as a historic monument; the penitential chapel there was built in 1823–1824 in the Neoclassical style.

La Chartreuse was formerly a Carthusian monastery and offers guided tours throughout the year. Since 1969, the Écomusée du Pays d'Auray–Saint-Dégan has documented rural life as it existed before 1950. It offers activities, workshops, tours and events all year round, and houses the only permanent exhibition in Brittany featuring paintings by Lucien Pouëdras.

Nature

The Saint-Dégan fruit-variety conservation garden covers 6 hectares, is classified as an Espace Naturel Sensible, and preserves more than 200 varieties of fruit trees. It is open all year round; admission is free, and an audio trail can be downloaded.

The Tréauray pond covers 23 hectares. A forest path runs along one of its banks.

Trails

The Circuit de Saint-Dégan hiking trail is 8 km long and begins in the village of Saint-Dégan. The Circuit des Demoiselles Bleues hiking trail is 3.8 km long and begins at Place Kreisker in the town centre of Brec’h.

The Circuit des chapelles is a 25 km cycling route dedicated to the historical and religious heritage of Brec’h. The route is easy and can be walked or cycled all year round.
