Ploemel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ploemel is home to the Chapelle de Locmaria, a remarkable testament to its history: it is the oldest religious building in the town. The chapel contains the gravestone of a knight who died in Tournai in 1340; the gravestone is considered an important work of medieval art in Brittany.

In summer, the tourist train Tire-bouchon stops at Ploemel station. It connects Auray with Quiberon.

Culture

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Recouvrance is a 16th-century chapel listed as a Monument historique and dedicated to sailors.

Several archaeological sites add to the cultural landscape. The Dolmen de la Madeleine is located in the vicinity of Ploemel. The Dolmen de Crucuno, the Alignements du Vieux-Moulin and the Alignements du Ménec are also located in the vicinity of Ploemel; all three are archaeological sites. The Dolmen de Mané-Bogad is listed as a Monument historique.

Nature

The Parc de Mané Bogad has a pond where fishing is permitted from the pontoon according to the no-kill rule. Caught fish must be returned to the water.

The well-maintained paths in Ploemel are suitable for walks as well as hikes on foot and by bicycle. The Tro Plenuer circular trail is a moderately difficult, yellow-marked hiking trail that begins at the cemetery car park in Ploemel.

The Golf de Saint Laurent is located in a forest of pine and oak trees. Its 18-hole Parcours des Pins course offers facilities for experienced golfers.

The area around Ploemel includes several different scenic destinations: Plage de Kerhillio and Plage de Carnac are beaches in the vicinity of Ploemel. Île de Saint-Cado and Île de Roëlan are islands in the vicinity of Ploemel.
