History and Culture

The Eglise Saint Barthélémy is a parish church dating from the 15th century. Its floor plan follows that of a single-nave Latin cross with a single transept arm. The polychrome altarpiece dates from the 18th century. The large stained-glass window (“Le grand vitrail”) dates from the 16th century, is listed in the register of Historic Monuments, and displays two coats of arms.

The parish of Brignac was transferred to Paimpont Abbey in the 13th century. The VP 19 circular trail leads visitors to discover the heritage of the communes of Brignac and Saint-Brieuc-de-Mauron and runs along the edge of Brocéliande Forest. The Fontaine Saint Barthélémy lies hidden in a meadow on the road to La Ville-au-Lô. According to tradition, good weather did not return until the object had been returned to its owner.

Nature

The Étang de la Maladrerie offers fishing opportunities. It is set in a green environment suitable for relaxing and walking. Every year in April, an intercommunal trout-stocking event is held at the Étang de la Maladrerie.
