Plouasné: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Plouasne stands the Church of Saint James and Saint Philip, built from 1870 to 1872 according to plans by the architect Guépin. Its floor plan is in the shape of a Latin cross with three naves; above the entrance portal is a stained-glass window created by the glass painter Fialex and dated 1872.

Culture and history

The Croix Plate is a monolithic granite cross engraved with Celtic motifs. These include a circle, geometric shapes and interlacing patterns.

The Sainte-Marie-Madeleine du Val chapel is the oldest of the chapels in Plouasne; parts of it date back to the 14th century. It contains a reused 14th-century window and preserves traces of wall paintings beneath the current plaster. The chapel was rebuilt in the first half of the 16th century; the year 1521 is inscribed on a voussoir of the southern portal. An oral tradition says that pilgrims prayed there to Saint Lawrence to obtain healing from skin diseases.

The Château de Caradeuc is considered an outstanding example of 18th-century Breton architecture. Its façades, roofs and outbuildings were entered in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments on 1 February 1978. The Parc du Château de Caradeuc in Bécherel can be visited independently or as part of a guided tour.

Water and nature

The Étang de Néal is a three-hectare, unspoilt pond above the Rophémel dam. A dam separates it from the main reservoir. The Cascade de l’Étang de Néal was created by a very old retaining structure on the Le Néal river.

At Launay Hellon in Plouasne stands a remarkable oak tree dating from the 15th or 16th century. There is a free car park at the Étang de Néal site, providing easy access. Roach, carp and pike are caught there using artificial lures or live bait.

Cycle paths

The Voie Verte runs from the site of the former Plouasne railway station to Le Quiou. The V3 reaches Plouasne via a disused and restored railway line from Trévron to the village of Plouasne. A detailed map for the Côtes-d’Armor département also brings together the V42 from Tréméreuc to Évran and the V403 from Tréméreuc to Plouasne.
