Plerguer: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Plerguer combines architectural history, religious sites and local traditions with natural surroundings and regional offerings. The special features of the town can be seen in its historic buildings, a monastery in the forest, small streams, market offerings and facilities with their own distinctive character.

Culture and History

The Sainte-Trinité-Saint-Augustin Church was built between 1856 and 1862 to designs by the architect Béziers-Lafosse. It was built in the flamboyant Gothic style and has three naves.

The Château de Beaufort dates from the 17th to the 19th century and was converted into a monastery around 1950. The former Saint-Pétreuc priory in the village of Saint-Pétreuc also reflects the religious history of the surrounding area: it was once dependent on Le Tronchet Abbey. The chapel of the former priory has been secularised.

La Pierre du Domaine has a distinctive historical form. The menhir stands in Plerguer in the French département of Ille-et-Vilaine, is 4.12 metres high and consists of fine-grained granite in the shape of a four-sided obelisk. In 1889, La Pierre du Domaine was classified as a historic monument.

Nature

The Notre-Dame de Beaufort Monastery is located in Plerguer in the heart of a forest and overlooks the Étang de Beaufort. The monastery includes the production of liturgical vestments, a jam-making workshop, and a shop with a bookshop and religious items.

The Biez-Jean is one of the small rivers that flow into the English Channel in the area around Plerguer. The local offerings also include the L'Étrier de Plerguer equestrian centre, with riding activities ranging from leisure riding to competitive sport.

Local Life

Plerguer's local festival, held annually at Trinity, is called Fête des Badious. The Marché de Plerguer takes place every Wednesday from 7 January 2026 to 30 December 2026. Local products are sold there directly and through short supply chains, including vegetables, cheese, fish, flowers and handicrafts.

Cidre Sorre offers visitors a free tasting of cider and apple juice. They can also watch a film about the history and work of the business. The Cidre Sorre shop sells regional products and traditional tableware such as bolées and jugs.

The L'Évasion library is also part of the local offering: it is part of the Les Bibliothèques du Mesnil network.
