Epiniac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Epiniac, Parc de la Higourdais is located in a wooded valley. It stretches across three municipalities and encompasses two successive ponds in a green landscape criss-crossed by numerous sunken lanes.

Landscape and Paths

Parc de la Higourdais can be reached by car via the D85, which connects Epiniac and Cuguen. The Circuit de La Croix de Pierre starts in Epiniac and is 8.0 km long. It leads through the landscape of Epiniac and the «des Landes» municipal forest to La Croix de Pierre; numerous old granite crosses stand along the route.

The built heritage of Parc de la Higourdais includes a mill and a bakehouse that once belonged to the outbuildings of Manoir de la Higourdais.

Architecture and Local History

The parish church of Saint-Pierre in Epiniac was built between 1901 and 1904 according to plans by the architect Arthur Regnault, in the 15th-century Breton Cornouaille style. Its stained-glass windows bear the signature of Charles Lorin and are dated 1901 and 1904. The choir contains a 17th-century altarpiece.

The village of Saint-Léonard grew up around its church and the cemetery surrounding it. The church of Saint-Léonard hosts, among other things, concerts featuring the local «Coeur de Vésins» choir.

Local Production and Market

Le Fournil de la Croix de Pierre produces organic sourdough bread from grain grown on the farm and bakes its bread in a wood-fired oven.

The Association Détente et Loisirs was founded to revitalise the centre of Saint-Léonard with a Sunday summer market for local producers and creatives, accompanied by musicians.
