Champeaux: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Sainte-Marie-Madeleine was elevated to collegiate church status in 1432, while the Château d'Epinay combines a 16th-century residential building with a 13th-century ruined keep.

Culture and History

The historical heritage includes the Menhir dit de « la haute pierre », which has been listed as a historic monument since May 1980, and the Menhir de la Haute Pierre, which dates back to the Neolithic period. Also noteworthy is the Canon's House at 3, place du Cloître: it dates from the second half of the 16th century and is part of a site protected since 20 January 1964.

There is also a fountain on the Place du Cloître, 10 metres northwest of the collegiate church. This fountain has been classified as a protected site since 20 January 1964.

Sightseeing and Experiences

Sainte-Marie-Madeleine can be visited free of charge every day outside service times, from 9 am to 7 pm, and until 6 pm in winter. The Cloître Saint Martin serves as an annex to the collegiate church for certain concerts and exhibitions. Courses and meetings related to sacred art are also held there.

Every year during the Fête de la Musique, the collegiate church offers an illuminated tour accompanied by singing. Le Manuscrit d’Espinay is an immersive virtual reality escape game dedicated to Champeaux's cultural heritage. It is designed for two to four players and lasts approximately one hour.

Landscape and Trails

Champeaux is located in the bocage of Haute-Bretagne. The Circuit de la vallée du Palet is an easy circular walking route with a walking time of 1 hour and 45 minutes. The Circuit de la passerelle des tourbières is 9 kilometres long.
