Nature and Trails

The former Lormandière industrial site is home to 500 plant species, including more than 20 rare species and orchids. An educational trail in Lormandière explains the history of the site and its lime kilns; the discovery trail in Lormandière takes about an hour on average.

The Boucle de la Seiche follows the meanders of the Seiche south of Chartres-de-Bretagne and returns to the leisure park via the Chemin de la Mine. The Parc de Loisirs offers wooden play equipment, a pétanque court, a fitness trail and a picnic area. The natural meadows around the two ponds in the Parc de Loisirs support the growth of wild plants and the wildlife associated with them. The Château de la Mécanique is a nature-themed playground in the heart of the Parc de Loisirs.

Culture

Pôle Sud combines a general-purpose event hall, an art gallery dedicated to photography, a media library, and visual arts and theatre workshops for children and young people. For 30 years, Pôle Sud has offered a multidisciplinary programme featuring music, dance, humour and theatre, as well as numerous activities for younger audiences. Pôle Sud can be reached by bus routes 91, 72 and 172ex and has on-site parking.

History

Medieval pottery workshops dating from the 11th to the 14th century were uncovered in the fortified village of Fontenay.
