Betton: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Betton brings several facets closely together: the Canal d’Ille-et-Rance, paths along the water, local culture and historic buildings. This creates a townscape that can be explored from different perspectives.

Landscape

The Canal d’Ille-et-Rance, which runs through Betton from north to south, has a towpath that is generally easy to walk along. Walks are possible near the town centre as well as between La Planche-Pinel and Les Brosses. Today, Betton is also a pleasant stop for pleasure boats on the Canal d’Ille-et-Rance.

The “Randonnée de la Planchette” hiking route runs along the Canal d’Ille-et-Rance and is connected with the half-timbered house of Grande Cour. La Grand’Cour is a half-timbered house with a projecting upper storey, probably dating from the late 16th or early 17th century.

For routes within the town and connections from Betton to the neighbouring municipalities, the town has produced a map showing the main walking and cycling routes. This map is available at the town hall.

Culture

The Médiathèque Théodore Monod offers workshops, conferences, film screenings, concerts and exhibitions throughout the year. The building was one of the 34 buildings nominated for the national Totems-Grand-Prix for public and community timber construction. The Cinéma Triskel also makes its own cultural contribution: it is classified as an arthouse cinema in the “Art et Essai” category.

The present parish church in Betton was built between 1870 and 1874. It is designed in the Romanesque Revival style with some Gothic elements and has three naves, transepts, a polygonal-ended choir and two subsidiary apses.

Local

The Marché de Betton takes place every Sunday morning at Place de la Cale on the banks of the canal.
