Guichen and Pont-Réan can be explored along seven hiking trails. Guichen Pont-Réan maintains these trails, which run through the countryside around Guichen and Pont-Réan.

Landscape and Trails

The Pont-Réan–Le Boël circular trail passes through the 300-hectare Boël Valley. Its route follows towpaths and winding narrow paths through a heavily wooded landscape.

Nature and Geology

The Carrière des Landes has been a protected and classified geological site in Guichen since January 10, 1966. It is easily accessible and a remarkable place.

The trilobite fossils of Guichen date from the Ordovician period, that is, from more than 460 million years ago. The trilobite fossil Guichenia was named after Guichen.

By the Water

The Pont-Réan canoe and kayak club rents stand-up paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, and water bicycles. Canoe, kayak, and paddle excursions on the Vilaine start at the Pont-Réan lock keeper's house and head upstream.

The Cale de Pont-Réan landing stage has a launching area for water sports. It is used by walkers, cyclists, joggers, kayakers, and mountain bikers.

Architecture and History

The Pont-Réan mill preserves 19th-century mills in a group of buildings arranged approximately in the shape of a Greek cross.

The Saint-Martin Church in Guichen was built in the neoclassical style and features remarkable elements of its architecture and furnishings. The small bell visible in the lantern bears the year 1462.
