Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets is the starting point for the easy circular route Les rivages de Saint-Jouan. The 8.8 km route takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes, follows the coastal path along the banks of the Rance and leads past small coves and rocky promontories to beautiful viewpoints.

Trails and landscape

Les Guérets de Saint-Jouan can be combined with Les rivages de Saint-Jouan to form a large, 9.6 km loop. Another circular route is the Circuit des Moulins à marée n° 3. It leads along the banks of the Rance and through the countryside around Saint-Malo to tidal mills and Malouinières.

History and architecture

The new Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste was consecrated in 1873. The present church was built in several phases: the bell-tower porch dates from 1830 to 1840, while the rest of the building was constructed between 1861 and 1866.

The Château de La Ville-ès-Oiseaux is one of the three oldest recorded estates in Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets; a seigneur once lived there. The Chapelle Saint-Charles et Saint-Christophe, dating from 1696, is located at the upper end of the Chemin de Clarisse. Near the circular route Les Guérets de Saint-Jouan stands the Chapelle Sainte-Anne-du-Tertre, built around 1870.

The former Moulin à vent du Tertre can be viewed from the Route du Tertre. The Chapelle Saint-François, dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi, is listed as a historic monument.
