In La Bouëxière, the Chevré site combines natural and historical heritage.

Nature and History

The medieval village of Chevré preserves a feudal motte crowned by the remains of a stone keep. The village also includes a Romanesque seven-arched bridge dating from the 13th century and an 11th-century Frairienne chapel.

Water and Trails

A hiking trail runs along the shores of Étang de Chevré. Covering 24 hectares, Étang de Chevré is considered a protected reserve for fauna and flora. Playful signs inform children and adults about the local plants and animals.

Landscape and Activities

The Chevré site offers a fitness trail, medieval games, and hiking and mountain biking trails. The historic Chevré ensemble is also a stop on the tourist route La Campagne buissonnière.

La Bouëxière features a preserved bocage landscape with wooded areas and a Roman road. It is also crossed by the GR 37 and GR 39 hiking trails, which are suitable for walking and cycling.

Festivals and Music

Ton’Eire de Bouex’ is a Celtic and Irish music festival held around March. In September, Les Festoyes, a medieval festival featuring crafts, costumes, demonstrations, and historical re-enactments, takes place at Étang de Chevré in La Bouëxière.
