Baulon: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Baulon, distinctive architectural history meets expansive landscapes. The Château de la Musse was built in the mid-19th century on a hilltop lawn above a pond. It lies west of the remains of an older château from the 17th century, of which only a residential pavilion and outbuildings have survived.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Blaise was rebuilt in three construction phases between 1831 and 1849 by the architect Jean-François Pointeau. It faces east and has the layout of a Latin cross, with a single-nave body, projecting transept and polygonal chancel end. Two chapels are attached to the sides of the northern and southern ends of the chancel.

Another historic building is La Gêole. It was built in 1574 and served as a courthouse and prison.

Water and Nature

The Grand Étang de la Musse covers 38 hectares and has a circumference of 4 kilometres. It is an oligotrophic-mesotrophic pond.

The Forêt de la Musse extends over 256 hectares. Its high-forest stands are home to oaks, beech trees and various pines. Wild boar, some roe deer, as well as hares, rabbits and squirrels can be found there.

The Vallée du Canut area covers 427 hectares and lies partly in Baulon. Numerous educational excursions on the flora and fauna take place there. Natural history associations offer events on vegetation, natural habitats, ornithology, orthopterans and butterflies.

Town Centre

The Place de la Noë stop on line 6 of the BreizhGo network provides access to the Église Saint-Blaise by public transport. In Baulon town centre, a path circles the La coulée verte area; it is accessible year-round from the car park by the church.
