Saint-Domineuc: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

At the Canal d’Ille-et-Rance near Saint-Domineuc, water activities, lock architecture and several circular routes come together. There are also historic sites in the surrounding area.

Water

The Base Nautique de Bretagne romantique offers canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding on the calm waters of the Canal d’Ille-et-Rance all year round. No technical skills are required for these excursions. The Base Nautique de Bretagne romantique provides paddles, life jackets, waterproof containers, changing rooms and sanitary facilities.

Culture and history

The Ecluse de Couëdan was built in the first quarter of the 19th century and is one of the 48 locks on the Canal d’Ille-et-Rance. The Pont de Linon is a bridge built of granite and concrete over the Canal d’Ille-et-Rance. It was built in 1827 and reconstructed with concrete in the mid-20th century.

The Maison éclusière n°38 in Couadan was also built in the first quarter of the 19th century and follows the standard design of the lock keeper’s houses along the Canal d’Ille-et-Rance. The private Manoir de La Ramée, a 17th-century manor house, lies between the locks of Calaudry and Couëdan.

The historic sites of Penthievre Tower, St. Louis Gate, Cardinal Gate and Coetquen Tower are also located in the surrounding area of Saint-Domineuc.

Paths and circular routes

The towpath of the Bretagne-Romantique circular route Circuit du Canal No. 16 has been developed as a greenway for walks and leisurely strolls. In addition, the Circuit de La Bouhourdais covers 14.3 km, the Circuit de Calaudry covers 8.5 km and Les Terrasses du Canal covers 3.7 km.
