Le Châtellier: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Parc Botanique de Haute Bretagne is located in Le Châtellier and is a 25-hectare botanical and floral park with 24 contemporary themed gardens.

Nature and Trails

The Parc Botanique de Haute Bretagne features two freely accessible, signposted circular trails measuring 1 km and 1.5 km respectively. The park also offers playful activities for all age groups, including children and teenagers.

Pré-Moraine, also known as Cirque du Diable, has the shape of a deeply cut, enclosed hollow. The Pierre-qui-Fume can be reached via a steep and slippery turn-off in the Bois-du-Diable.

History and Architectural Heritage

The village of Le Châtellier has preserved its original layout. The church of Le Châtellier was built between 1849 and 1853 by Jacques Mellet. From the former church, it preserves a bas-relief of an altarpiece with trefoil arches. The La Hunaudais manor house has existed since the beginning of the 15th century.

In 2013, the residential building from the 19th century at the Château de la Vieuville, together with its façades and roofs, vestibule, interior staircase and dining room; the former manor house with its façades and roofs; and the landscaped park with its bodies of water and hydraulic installations were listed as historic monuments.

“Terres d’Histoire” is an annual historical performance held at Parc du Fretay in Le Châtellier.

Le Casse-Graines is located at the entrance to the Parc Botanique de Haute Bretagne in Le Châtellier and offers cuisine based on fresh, local and organic products.

Practical Information

The Aire étape du Châtellier offers free parking in two designated spaces and overnight stays in these spaces; the discharge of liquids is prohibited.
