Guipry is home to the Église Saint-Pierre, a rural Romanesque church with three naves. It is one of the few surviving examples of its kind in the Ille-et-Vilaine département.

The bell-tower porch was added to the west façade in 1760, and further alterations were carried out in 1929. At the port of Messac in Guipry, the Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Port was built as early as 1643–1644 within the enclosed grounds of a house.

Nature

The Corbinières Valley encompasses an 800-hectare wooded massif. This landscape includes a 70-metre-deep meander, a so-called cluse, a rich variety of plant life and diverse wildlife; a discovery trail provides access to the area.

Experiences

At the hamlet of Baron, four kilometres south of the centre of Guipry-Messac on the right bank of the Vilaine, lies La Motte de Baron, an important archaeological site. A short circular trail with illustrated panels provides historical information about the site. The family activity “Secret de Baron” is available from the Guipry-Messac tourist office, on site at the Auberge de Baron, or as a download for families with children aged 9 and over.

The Vélo Promenade® Le port is a moderately difficult 30-kilometre cycling route starting in Guipry-Messac. Guipry and Messac are described as picturesque communities to discover at the start or finish of the route.

Other Cultural Sites

In the wider region around Guipry lies the Château de la Ville Quéno, a castle. The Grand-Fougeray Tower, a historic site, and the Église Saint-Nicolas et Saint-Luczot are also located in the area around Guipry. The Eglise Saint-Michel is likewise nearby.

Getting There

Messac-Guipry railway station provides rail connections for Guipry-Messac.
