La Baussaine: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Circuit Duguesclin cycle route passes through La Baussaine and returns there after passing through Trimer, Tinténiac, Bazouges-sous-Hédé, Hédé, Saint Symphorien, Saint Brieuc des Iffs and Les Iffs.

History

The Église Saint-Léon in La Baussaine has been protected as a historic monument since 1926. Its western façade and chancel end display the style of the second half of the 15th century; the church was extensively rebuilt in the 16th century. It contains octagonal, double baptismal fonts from the 14th century, decorated with the coats of arms of the former lords of Tinténiac and fully sculpted.

The existence of the village of La Baussaine is first documented in 1197, when the lord of Tinténiac donated it to Saint-Georges Abbey. The Croix de Biheul dates from 1576, and the Croix du cimetière from 1665.

Culture

The Art aux Champs association promotes artistic expression in rural areas, including through exhibitions such as Hors Champs. During school holidays, La Houpette offers two-day introductory theatre courses for children and young people.

The La Baussaine library is part of a network. Access to the network’s libraries and media libraries is free for occasional visitors during opening hours.
