Guignen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The 15-km VP3 circular route, “Entre nature et bâti”, runs through the Canut Valley and the Bignon wetland. This wetland comprises two ponds that hold water year-round and is home to numerous newts, tree frogs, kingfishers and dragonflies. Along the roads on the circular route, you can see old slate crosses. The circular route is suitable for road bikes or all-terrain bicycles.

Culture and history

The present-day Saint-Martin de Guignen church is neo-Gothic; its construction took 25 years. The church contains a wooden statue of Christ dating from the 17th century. The La Massonière washhouse stands beside a stream and on the site of a former open-air washing place. The Ormeau oratory was built to preserve the memory of a former chapel and houses a statue of Saint Roch.

Everyday life and amenities

The Guignen market takes place every Wednesday morning. There is a galette and crêpe vendor there. The Médiathèque municipale de Guignen is open to everyone; visitors can stay there without registering. Its collection includes 7,500 books, magazines, DVDs and CDs. It also offers events for all age groups and audiences. For children aged 0 to 3, there are storytime and rhyme sessions, as well as activities to discover sounds and instruments.

Walks and recreation

At “La ruée vers l’air” at Le Tertre Gerault, walks for adults are offered every day all year round. The “la Prairie” recreational area has a pond, a picnic area and a children’s playground.
