Martigné-Ferchaud: Holiday apartments and houses

At Étang de la Forge, Martigné-Ferchaud reveals a landscape in which waterways and birdlife are closely intertwined. Étang de la Forge stretches along the Semnon, a tributary of the Vilaine. Its eastern section is a protected ornithological area that welcomes thousands of birds every year during migration.

Trails

The Circuit du verger is designated for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. This circular route also includes a viewpoint overlooking Château du Breil, which was built around 1850. The Circuit Ginière et Araize leads from Bois de Ginière to Forêt d’Araize, combining landscapes shaped by human activity with a built cultural landscape rich in local history.

History

Several buildings give Martigné-Ferchaud its historic character. The present-day parish church of Saint-Pierre was built in 1867 according to plans by architect Jacques Mellet, while the Manoir de la Mintière dates from the 16th or 17th century. In the Village des Forges, the preserved accommodation for workers and the master craftsman evokes the forges established in the 17th century.

Events

Since 1994, Les Étincelles Aquatiques has been part of local life in Martigné-Ferchaud as a community-based artistic project. The spectacle takes place at Étang de la Forge in Martigné-Ferchaud; signs from the main access roads point the way to the venue. The Les Mines d’Or festival is also held at Étang de la Forge as an open-air event in a natural setting.
