Torcé: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Site de Vassé nature area is located immediately near the centre of Torcé and the Pré Clos housing estate. Fitness equipment is available there; younger visitors can also enjoy an acrobatic course. The Site de Vassé is also a popular walking area among local residents. Sheep, ducks, bees, cattle and donkeys can be found there; the animals also help with the ecological maintenance and upkeep of the grounds.

Trails

The “Circuit de Vassé / Pierre Galat” circular trail is 5.9 km long. A 2.3 km loop between Rue de la Motte and Route de Vergéal makes it possible to discover the Site de Vassé.

The “Circuit de la Voie Romaine” circular trail is 11.4 km long and follows the former Roman road that connected Vitré and Bais. The section under the LGV on this circular trail can be dangerous during heavy rain.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Médard was first mentioned at the end of the 11th century, rebuilt in the 15th and 16th centuries, and still has a Romanesque crypt. The crypt is fully listed as a Monument historique; the listing was made by decree dated 16 December 2003.

According to tradition, the first Chapelle Saint-Roch was built by the parishioners as an ex voto on the occasion of an epidemic and rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style at the end of the 19th century.
