Domloup: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Domloup reveals its special character along paths through the countryside, in protected natural areas and at historic buildings. From short walks and longer cycling routes to cultural meeting places, a diverse picture of the town emerges.

Paths and Circular Routes

The “À la source du Blosne” route offers two options of 14 and 21 km through the Domloup countryside. It reaches the boundaries of Domloup, Noyal-sur-Vilaine, Cesson-Sévigné and Chantepie. The route is open to walkers as well as people using mountain bikes or hybrid bikes.

Another marked route is the 29 km Vélo Promenade® circular cycling route no. 10, “Entre Vilaine et Châteaux”. It passes through Domloup and crosses the valleys of the Rimon, the Yaigne and the Vilaine.

Those wishing to explore Domloup on foot with a focus on history will find a 3.0 km, very easy circular walk on Circuit du Patrimoine no. 3. It begins in the car park at Place de la Mairie in the historic town centre.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Loup preserves several remarkable architectural features. Its Romanesque nave is the only one in the Ille-et-Vilaine département with an entrance featuring four arched openings. Splayed arrow-slit windows have also been preserved at its entrance, along with a Romanesque portal dating from around the year 1000.

One of the chapels in the Église Saint-Loup contains wall paintings depicting Our Lady of Mercy, Saint Margaret and Saint Mary Magdalene.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Rivière, also known as Notre-Dame-des-Marais, appears to date from the Gothic period, more precisely the 15th century. Its entrance is marked by small columns with capitals characteristic of the early 15th century.

Nature

The Vallée du Rimon is a protected natural area with ponds inhabited by protected newts and salamanders.

Culture and Community

The Médiathèque L'Envolée is a publicly accessible venue for culture, leisure and education. Books, magazines, audio CDs and DVDs can be used free of charge on site; borrowing is also available.

The “Envolées créatives” take place once a month and teach techniques such as flipbook animation, stop motion and paper folding. Participation is free and requires registration. At the “Mercredis jeux”, families or friends can play board games together.

“Autour du tricot et des arts du Fil” offers opportunities for discussion and learning relating to knitting, textile crafts and upcycling.
