Argentré-Du-Plessis: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Argentré-du-Plessis lies on the borders of Brittany, Pays de la Loire and Normandy. At the same time, the town is located near the Paris–Rennes motorway and the TGV Atlantique. Between its regional setting, natural environment and notable architectural and archaeological heritage, the town presents a multifaceted picture.
Culture and History
The parish church of Église paroissiale Notre-Dame was rebuilt between 1775 and 1779, following the fire of 25 October 1772 and based on a design by Joseph Brousseau. Château du Plessis, a castle in the vicinity of Argentré-du-Plessis, also reflects a long architectural history: it extends from an older structure to alterations made in the 19th century and includes a chapel consecrated in 1879. The entire residential building and the entire park of Château du Plessis are listed as historic monuments.
Another historical trace is the Site archéologique du Bois du Pinel. The archaeological site is a fortified complex on a wooded plateau with a motte, two baileys and two rectangular enclosures. It has been listed as a historic monument since 8 September 1995.
The historic sites of Bridole Tower, Prisoners Tower and Golden Tower are also located in the vicinity of Argentré-du-Plessis. The Jardin du Parc garden is likewise located nearby.
Nature and Cycling Route
The Étang du Moulin aux Moines and its surroundings form a 17-hectare natural area intended to benefit residents and visitors. For cycling, the 37-kilometre circular route “Entre le rail d’antan et d’aujourd’hui” is listed; it begins in Argentré-du-Plessis.
