La Fresnais: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Marais Blanc gives La Fresnais an unusual landscape. It is a flat area at elevation 0, formed by the retreat of the sea. The white soils owe their color to marine alluvium; a system of sluice gates in the Marais Blanc regulates the water level.

The Circuit des Biez begins at the cemetery car park in La Fresnais. Along the Circuit des Biez, the route is marked with signs reading “Circuit des biez n° 5”.

History and Culture

The Church of Saint-Méen et Sainte-Croix was built between 1893 and 1899 according to plans by the architect Arthur Regnault. Its exterior features predominantly Romanesque design elements, while the interior is more Byzantine in style; in 2015, it was listed as a Monument historique. The Ville es Mariaux wayside cross dates from 1609 and has been preserved as a notable relic.

Another specific place in La Fresnais is Le Mohair de la Côte d’Emeraude, an educational farm at 3 rue du Bief Briand, 35111 La Fresnais. There, visitors can learn about mohair production and the breeding of Angora goats. The farm is also home to other farm animals; a video also shows the processing journey from goat to finished product.
