Chancé: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Chancé can be explored through concrete evidence of its history: behind the Calvary, a fountain bears the year 1874, and beneath the Calvary, a limestone Pietà is located in a slate cave. The Calvary itself probably dates from the same period as the fountain from 1874.

Culture and local history

The Chapel of Saint-Marc and Saint-Marcoul has stood in Chancé since the 17th century. It is open every Sunday and during the European Heritage Days. Outside these opening hours, a QR code provides some information about the interior of the Chapel of Saint-Marc and Saint-Marcoul.

Historical elements outside the building are explained at Saint-Pierre Church. Visitors are also invited to discover the church’s special features inside Saint-Pierre Church.

The local history also includes the former mairie-école and the former presbytery. The former mairie-école has served various functions since it was established; an information panel describes its history. The former presbytery is privately owned.

Landscape and routes

Several waterways cross Chancé, including the Taillepied stream in the northwest. In the 12th century, part of the municipality of Piré-Chancé was covered by the Forest of Chauffetière.

The cycling tour Promenade à vélo entre Seiche et Châteaux is intended for families and beginner cyclists. The Circuit du Patrimoine n°7 Chancé starts at the Mairie in Piré-Chancé; the Route de la Chapelle is located in Chancé.
