Saint-M'hervé: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

At the entrance to Saint-M'Hervé stands the 9.30-metre-high Menhir du Champ Dolent. This unusual object is a Styrofoam replica of a real dolmen in Dol-de-Bretagne. After filming ended, Saint-M'Hervé took over the menhir to put it on display at the entrance to the town.

Townscape and History

The parish church of Saint-Éloi is also part of the town's history. It was rebuilt between 1845 and 1848 according to plans by the Rennes architect Jean-Marie Anger de la Loriais. On 2 August 1856, Mgr Brossay-Saint-Marc consecrated the church. Its elongated floor plan, false barrel vault, bell-tower porch and rounded apse define its architectural character.

Events

The Comité des fêtes of Saint-M'Hervé organises Tartines d'Artistes every year on the first weekend in May. The Marché de l'Avent is scheduled to take place every year on the last Sunday in November.

Nature and Activities

The Lac de la Haute-Vilaine lies within the territories of Saint-M'Hervé, Bourgon and La Chapelle-Erbrée. A footbridge at the lake allows visitors to access two different hiking trails, each 7 kilometres long. Around the Lac de la Haute-Vilaine, information panels provide information about hiking trails and ornithological exploration. Another hiking trail in Saint-M'Hervé is the Circuit du Champ Dolent No. 43.

The Base de loisirs de la Haute-Vilaine is open to the public all year round and offers sports and leisure activities. These include a multisport field, a beginner mountain-bike course, a technical mountain-bike course and an introduction to archery. At the same base, Aventures Nautik offers an immersive experience combining games, nature and cultural heritage.

Farms and Local Experiences

La Ferme d'Hermeillon produces goat's cheese and sells organic meat from free-range white pigs from western France. By reservation, the farm offers educational farm tours as an independent visit, a guided visit or in the “Éleveur d'un jour” format.

The “Visite d'une asinerie” activity in Saint-M'Hervé includes discovering how donkeys are milked, trying milking yourself and tasting fresh donkey's milk; it lasts one and a half hours.
