Culture and History

The former Saint-Sauveur Abbey in Redon was founded in 832 by Saint Conwoïon with the support of Nominoë. The former abbey’s present-day nave dates from the 11th century; it has preserved its bell tower with a stone spire from the early 14th century. The Tour Richelieu on the quays of the Vilaine in Redon dates from the 17th century. The Abbatiale Saint-Sauveur de Redon is a historic site in the immediate vicinity of Redon.

The Port de Redon is a river-maritime port at the confluence of the Oust and Vilaine. The “La Vilaine – Canal de Nantes à Brest” cycle path in Redon is 12.5 km long.
