The present-day Saint-Martin Sacré-Coeur church in Janzé was built according to plans by Jules and Henri Mellet. The foundation stone was blessed on 18 October 1874, the church was consecrated on 21 December 1885 and completed in 1887.

Culture and History

Saint-Martin Sacré-Coeur has a Latin-cross floor plan, ribbed and groin vaults, a dome, a portal tower and a rounded apse. The overall style is Neo-Romanesque. Its features include significant sculpted decorations, particularly on the capital baskets, as well as the alternating use of different materials.

The Menhir dit de La Pierre des Fées is a Neolithic monument in Janzé at Champ-de-la-Pierre. It was classified as a historic monument by decree of 19 October 1963 and is privately owned.

Le Gentieg in Janzé offers a varied cultural season featuring comedy, theatre and performances for young audiences.

Indoor Experiences

Enigmaparc brings together twelve thematically different adventure trails under one roof in a building with 2,400 m² of mazes. At least three hours are required for all the trails. The indoor amusement park is located at ZA du Bois de Teillay, 10 rue du Tellier, 35150 Janzé.

Enigmaparc can be reached via the D41 on the Rennes–Angers route: the Janzé Nord exit leads to ZA du Bois de Teillay in the Haut Bois district towards Châteaugiron. From the Corps-Nuds SNCF railway station, Enigmaparc offers a free shuttle bus with eight seats; it must be reserved at least 48 hours in advance.

Trails through the Landscape and Local History

The Rando écureuil in Janzé is an easy, approximately two-hour urban hiking route covering 7.5 km and featuring six points of interest.

Along the Rando écureuil, pollard oaks with short trunks, a thickened branch base and a crown of branches above form a recurring landscape feature. Their maintenance and renewal serve ecological interests, preserve the banks and protect the local landscape.

Along the Rando écureuil, the course of the Châtelerie was extended and its gradient reduced through renaturalisation work, allowing the stream to regain a more sinuous morphology and its hydrobiological functions.

The La Robidelais route documents Janzé's mill heritage. Seven mills are listed, including the Moulin de la Franceule watermill from 1904–1914 and the windmills of Châtellier, de la Tremblaye, du Rocher, de Garmeaux, de Brulon and de la Jaroussaye.
